Weska returns to Truesoul, building on the momentum of last winter’s excellent ‘Mudcat’ EP.

A member of the extended label family, the Canadian’s regular contributions to Adam Beyer’s labels are marked by a distinctive rhythmic touch and emotive melodies. From his collaboration with Bart Skils on Drumcode (highlighted by ‘Shades of Summer’ and ‘Something More’) to his debut solo EP on Truesoul ‘Mudcat’ late last year, we know what we’re getting with Weska – timeless techno fit for a variety of dancefloor occasions.

His latest offering is ‘Helix’, an evocative jam tying together influences from progressive, techno and trance for a celestial finish that’s already seen it highlight Resistance Miami, among others.

“I started ‘Helix’ en route to Stockholm after Yacht Week to visit my buddy Max. I had the groove, synth stabs, and vocal chops down, and when I played it through his living room aux, he just said, “You should finish this.” Back in Toronto, I found the trancey lead that tied the whole thing together. The melody came out of nowhere, and I fell in love with the track. I hope you do too!”–Weska
